Appointments and Cancellations
Regular, consistent attendance and participation is required in order for the therapeutic process to work. Once a therapy session is scheduled, that time slot is reserved specifically for such client. Cornerstone expects its clients to attend scheduled sessions except in the event of sickness or emergency.
Cornerstone understands that sickness and emergencies happen suddenly and may require last minute notification and/or cancellation. When monitoring attendance, family emergencies, serious medical conditions, surgeries, and extraneous circumstances will be considered by Cornerstone on a case-by-case basis. Documentation may be required for client absence to be excused.
Generally, in the absence of sickness or emergency, Cornerstone requires cancellation to be made at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the scheduled appointment. Although twenty-four (24) hours is the minimum, if a client needs to cancel or reschedule, the client should give as much advanced notice as possible to their clinician.
Clients will be responsible for the entire fee for services if a cancellation is less than twenty-four (24) hours in advance. Cornerstone may, in its sole discretion, waive this fee on a case-by-case basis.
If a client is late for a session, the client may lose that portion of their session time. Should a client no-show once or cancel a scheduled appointment twice with less than twenty-four (24) hours advanced notice, barring an excused absence, the client’s reserved timeslot for services will be considered forfeited. In this event, the client should contact their clinician directly to reengage and reschedule treatment. In such a situation, a client may be subject to discharge from client services.
Please note that missing too many sessions may result in an increase or other change in the client’s appropriate level of care. Further, a pattern of repeated missed appointments, including client refusal, client failure to show, and/or client cancellation may result in temporary or permanent restriction of client services. Cornerstone will reach out via secure message, telephone, or letter to discuss the foregoing should the need arise.
